Andrea Gabilondo was born in Mexico City where she studied classical ballet as well as modern dance. She was awarded a two year scholarship to study in "The Vaganova Ballet School" of Leningrad (St.Petersburg).
In Mexico she worked for 5 years with the National Dance Company ( Ballet). She also worked in the following modern companies: "Taller Coreografico de la UNAM", "Danza Libre" and "Expansión 7". She co- created the company of modern dance "Andamio" touring through different cities of Mexico for three years. At the same time she worked in the radio with her own program "Invitation to the Dance".
She moved to Portugal and danced for three years with the "Companhia de Dança de Lisboa" under the direction of Rui Horta and José Oliveira.
In 1988 she entered the cast of the "Bochumer Tanztheater" of Reinhild Hoffmann in the city of Bochum- Germany, where she stayed seven years dancing and acting not just in Hoffmann's choreographies but also with Keta Kay from Japan, Anna Pocher from Italy as well as with two theatre directors: Rys Martins (Australia) and Jurgen Gosch (Germany), performing not just in Germany but also in New York, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam and Lisbon among other major cities.
As an actress she worked with the theatre director Felio Eliel. Ands she has also participated in different theater workshops with Glennys McQueen, Jesusa Rodríguez and as well as Liza Mayer and Vicente Fuentes of the Teatro Roy Hart.
Returning to Portugal to dedicate herself to theatrical- choreography, she has created several dance performances with La Marmita: The Interview, Hyperacusia, The Chair, Voice of Melpomene, Xa hei paparata te, The Guests, Atem, Sequenza, "This is....what is this?", The Open Door and A Difficult Day. She has worked in close collaboration with the dance group Arquipel, directed by Ana D' Andrea e Tilike Coelho.
Also she worked as a choreographer for the theatre director Manuel Gama, for the piece "The Perfect Candidate" by José Tomeo, as well as teaching dance and drama in the Escola de Dança Ginasiano.since 1999. She also gives workshops for dancers, actors and musicians, among some of the schools and companies she has taught are: the Lisbon Dance College (Escola Superior de Dança), the Northwest Dance Company in Viana do Castelo, Aveiro Dance Company and the College of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) in Porto .
